Today threatened, damaged, looted or destroyed, four major sites including UNESCO World Heritage sites – Palmyra and Aleppo (Syria), Mosul (Iraq) and Leptis Magna (Libya) – are unveiled and reborn in a spectacular immersive stage at the Institut du monde arabe from October 10, 2018.
Thanks to the most advanced digitization technologies, the exhibition offers visitors a trip to the heart of the architectural treasures of the cities of Mosul and Aleppo as well as the prestigious archaeological sites of Palmyra and Leptis Magna, symbols of the world heritage. humanity and the multicultural history of the civilizations of the Middle East.
Designed in collaboration with start-up Iconem and Ubisoft, world leader in entertainment, and in partnership with UNESCO, the exhibition combines giant projections, some of them 360 ° virtual reality experiences; archival documents and images; but also videos and testimonials of local people.
By reviving these millennia cities through the magic of digital technology, the Institut du monde arabe aims to raise the awareness of the wider public about the crucial issues of preservation and rehabilitation of heritage.
