The one and only Michel Philippot is back with his weekly review of European magazines and newspapers.
In late August 2013 a tidal wave hit: Le Journal de la Photographie disappeared into the waves of summer. A little time passed, and here we are with L’Oeil de la Photographie (The Eye of Photography), risen like the Phoenix from the ashes.
And so it is with great pleasure that I join you again in the adventure. I’ve just spent three sunny weeks in Asia at two festivals, Lianzhou (China) and Phnom-Penh (Cambodia). Back in Paris the skies are grey like a bad print.
Since June we’ve seen:
—In Syria, the horrors continue
—As for unemployment, everything’s fine, this is the downturn
—Pesticide use has not declined
—In the Central African Republic, Christians and Muslims have decided to kill each other for pleasure.
—The Buddhists and Muslims in Thailand and Burma are tearing each other’s guts out
—South Sudan is doing fine in the series “The Massacre Continues”
—Pollution peaks have never been higher in France
—And sadly there is much more news like this.
The fact that in six months nothing has changed shows that it’s TIME FOR THINGS TO CHANGE.
I hope you’ll have a happy holidays, if you can…
See you next year,
Michel Philippot
