Lallubhai Compound is one of the new neighborhood that was developped at the beginning of the 2000’s, in the context of a town planning project to renovate Mumbay slums.Deprived of their land by real estate developer, thousands of mumbaikars were relocated in cheap concrete high rises far from the center of town. About 8000 families coming from different neighborhoods of the city now live in this ghetto.
With this series, the photographer wants to show the life conditions of the population, that had to adapt to this new vertical habitat. The problems of promiscuity, insalubrity and surpopulation have worsened within this new configuration of the habitat.
