Born in 1968, Eric Pillot lives and works in Paris. He discovered photography after his scientific studies at the Ecole Polytechnique and working several years as an engineer.
He received his training in photography following workshops including some with Bernard Plossu, Paul den Hollander, and Jean-Claude Bélégou. In 2004 he made his first series on animals, photographing polar bears underwater. He then focused on the architecture and facilities of zoos.
Since 2008, he photographed a majority of the zoos in Europe, as a hunter of moments, and shot the series “IN SITU”, a ongoing project still evolving with the subject of the animal and the question of his humanity in captive environments. Today, the series is exposed with a dozen of large prints at the Dumonteil Gallery in Paris.
