QUELLI CHE CI GUARDANO (Those who watch us) is a project carried out in Palermo, Sicily during 2013 and 2014 on sacred and secular images and the survival of small altars in everyday locations. Portraits of loved ones are often placed next to saints and sometimes even non-religious images inside homes and workplaces. The ensembles form astounding constellations. The images evoke traces of stories, memories of people’s lives and the spaces they inhabit. There seems to be riddles that need to be deciphered in order to understand a story that appears to have begun in ancient times.
