The Lucky Ones
These pictures were taken during a trip to India, Bangladesh and Nepal in 2016 where I visited shelters for children that had no home. Some were rescued from sex-trafficking, others from child marriage. Some had been living in brothels where their mothers worked as prostitutes. And others were simply left on the street because their families couldn’t provide for them.
I was fortunate enough to be invited to photograph the children, and my intention was to show that these children were just like us.
They shared the same joys and sorrows as our children do.
It is one of my favorite experiences of all time, it really moved me. It was both an eye opening and a heart warming experience, and it showed me that we are all connected.
I want to show with these photographs a glimpse into their lives, to show that there is hope for us all and that it’s never too late.
If these children can make it, anyone can.
