The magic and tragedy of Cuba is something that has always intrigued photographer E.K. Waller. She has been eager to capture the essence of Cuban life, particularly before the expected invasion of capitalism alters the magic and the tragedy of this “forbidden island.”
Her new collection of images at The Perfect Exposure Gallery may show us a crumbling infrastructure, but they also reveal a people who seem happy with their lives, eager to express themselves through art, dance, music and sports – even in the face of poverty, as we might know it.
The exhibition reveals a picturesque view that exposes the reality of Cuba – perhaps in a way you have never seen before. Human but surreal, mystical yet accessible.
