Night comes quickly
Places have memories. And so it is with my family home. For over 60 years, this house has recorded the presence of those who have lived there, and their traces are still very visible.
The external elements (buildings, vegetation) have influenced the life of the house and its inhabitants, but the traces of life left by my parents and my brother have also marked the memory of the place.
The dining room, now empty even though we had so many family meals there, the kitchen where my mother spent a lot of time and the veranda where she napped in fine weather, my father’s blue strings for tying and repairing all sorts of things and his ‘workshop’ where he accumulated so much, the dolphin that my brother never had time to repair, all these accumulated objects remind me of their presence. Curiously, I haven’t found any traces of my own.
But it soon got dark…
