My name is Deniz Uzunoglu and I am originally from San Francisco, California although I currently live and work in Istanbul Turkey.
The son of a talented painter, I was always drawn to art. Specifically painting and drawing but I always had a need for absolute truth in art and fell in love with photography’s journalistic quality.
My New Nus series stems from a sense that while I believe love was in fact, not blind, I certainly agreed that what we see through love is very, very different what we see without it.
And that has always been one of my frustrations with traditional photography: it selects just one split second of image to represent the fullness of a moment. It’s always felt like trying to understand a flower by a single petal.
Allowing the camera to stay open and absorb a fuller moment, I’ve found that these images much more accurately relate the feeling of both the person and the moment.
