Until September 19th, the Georges Pompidou Center will feature the exhibition Paris-Delhi-Bombay. The exhibition confronts the works of French and Indian artists, and allows the viewer to discover the contemporary Indian society around the question: “What is India today?”
Many subjects are analyzed, politics, religion, artisans, identity. All methods are present, painting, sculpture and photography. Among the featured photographers, we find Dayanita Singh.
Dayanita Singh exhibits a series of photographs taken from a book, House of Love. Every image has been taken over the course of one single year. The ensemble resembles a personal diary. Dayanita Singh captures landscapes, nocturnal spaces, people she meets as well as personal and intimate objects. “Her images swing between documentary truth, fiction, dream and illusion.”
Dayanita Singh was born in 1961 in New Delhi, where she lives and works.
