Cristina, on February 18, 2013, you were elected to the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, taking over a seat that once belonged to the great writer and director Luis Garcia Berlanga. You were nominated by the photographer Alberto Schommer, the filmmaker Manuel Gutierrez Aragon and the sculptor Julio Lopez Hernandez. Were you aware of the nomination?
Yes, members of the Academy had contacted me a few years before to gauge my interest in a nomination. I was in India when I heard the news.
Can you tell us how it felt to be nominated?
I felt gratitude, for the trust the had had put in my work, and the fact that I was eligible to sit among magnificent professionals whose work I still find inspiring today.
