The ANI (National Association of Iconographers) organizes each year during the professional week of Visa pour l’Image, readings of portfolios at the Palais des Congrès in Perpignan. Professional Iconograhers receive a large number of photographers from around the globe. Following these meetings, the price ANI-PixPalace is awarded at the festival the following year, to present a check in the amount of € 5,000 to the winner.

Stagnant life of Ari
Ari lives in a nursing home for the mentally unstable, wherein he is a typical resident – A middle aged man with mental disorders due to heavy consumption of alcohol during his early manhood. Since 1986 he’s been in many different nursing homes, and now lives a somewhat stagnant life, sharing it with only the other residents. Ari loves Madonna, Lady Gaga and Rihanna, and wishes to become a politician.
Miikka Pirinen
Miikka Pirinen, 26, is a freelance photographer based in Helsinki, Finland.
Since 2010 he has been working for the main Finnish newspapers, such as Helsingin Sanomat and Suomen Kuvalehti. His first long term project follows the life of an middle aged alcoholic, suffering from mental disorders.
Pirinen was awarded for the News Picture Of The Year in the Finnish Press Photos 2011 contest.
