Words We Have Learned Since 9-11: A Portrait Project, 2005-2021
Beginning in 2004, and now marking the 20th anniversary of September 11, 2001, Clayton Campbell’s photographic portrait project, Words We Have Learned Since 9/11, has engaged a large and diverse international audience for the past 16 years. This commemorative edition captures the thoughts, feelings, and emotions of those who participated.
Words We have Learned Since 9/11 is a full color, 228 page, 11” x 13” format hard cover book, containing hundreds of portraits in both color and black and white. It documents the initial presentation in Paris at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie followed by exhibitions at museums, non profit arts centers and community galleries in Los Angeles and San Francisco, California; Mobile, Alabama; Santa Fe, New Mexico; Bucharest, Romania; Marnay Sur Seine, France; London and Northern Ireland, United Kingdom; Gdansk and Warsaw, Poland; Tehran, Iran; Kurdistan; Ansan, South Korea; Capetown, South Africa; and Beijing, Republic of China. In addition to the portraits, also included are reviews, curatorial commentary, installation photographs, and an essay by the artist framing the project.
