Sophie Bernard, editor-in-chief of Images Magazine and member of the jury for the festival’s program, was eager to highlight Anna Skladmann’s work. This young German photographer, who works between Moscow and New York, presents a series of portraits called “Little adults”. This work is an exploration on the recent appearance of the Russian “Nouveau Riche” society, in which children are brought up to become the future ”elite” and behave already as mini-adults.
“With the series ‘Little adults’, Anna Skladmann takes us into a separate world of the Russian ‘nouveau riche’. A world of immoderation and excess where children, dressed as adults, seem to have prematurely lost their innocence. A golden yet cold world, rich in décor, but poor in emotions. I really fell for the work of this 25 year-old German photographer, whom I met last autumn during the portfolio reviews organized by Lens Culture and Fotofest in Paris.”
