This exhibit gathers excerpts from English photographer Chris Shaw’s series Life As A Night Porter. A selection of images depicts Chris Shaw’s nocturnal hotel world and its bizarre characters: night watchmen, chefs, and other hotel staff, but also the clients themselves. The exhibition focuses on the unique richness and beauty of these nocturnal, high-contrast scenes, immortalized in the black and white proofs Chris Shaw makes by hand. These portraits highlight the strange characteristic of the nights the artist spent in hotels during several years, but also the charm of the imperfections and defects of traditional film photography.
