This photo of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines was awarded the Picture of the Year at the CHIPP in Beijing on Thursday. Canadian photographer Kevin Frayer of Getty Images will receive 100,000 yuan ($16,500) as well as the gold medal in the category “War and Catastrophes.” His full coverage of this event, which he chose to shoot in black-and-white, will earn him an additional 10,000 yuan.
