“Where memory becomes blurred, imagination takes flight“, Chantal Colleu-Dumond, curator of the event.
As every year for five years, the Center of Arts and Nature welcomes contemporary photography. It is in the superb architectural setting of the Chaumont sur Loire estate that the 2022/2023 edition presents the works of 4 great photographers, each with their own personal view of nature and the landscapes that cross their path.
Thus the American Michael Kenna, the French Denis Brihat, Eric Bourret and FLORE, open their worlds to us, offer us the spectacle of a magnified nature and invite us to contemplation as well as to reflect.
With his poetic images captured during his travels around the world, Michael Kenna is interested in the solitary tree. The diversity of the photographed specimens and the variety of the compositions offer a magnified vision of nature. Flore takes us on a journey in the footsteps of Marguerite Duras and invites us to discover a universe where romantic and imaginary memories are mixed. Known for having devoted an immense work to a unique obsession: nature, Denis Brihat’s images are intense, both surgical and sensual. Under his gaze, kiwis, artichokes and garlic cloves seem almost human. In a different approach, Eric Bourret overexposes (on a single negative) his abstract visions of the forests he walks through.
In summary, an exhibition that offers singular images, worthy of paintings where each photographer was able to play with his own perception of the elements, and colors, inviting us to dreams and to take a different look at our so precious nature.
