The artists Chassary & Belarbi joined forces in 2009. Amélie Chassary, 33, is a photographer. Lucie Belarbi, 29, is a visual artist. They’ve produced two series together so far. The first, Huis-Clos, is a vision of the customs and practices of our society. The second, Résonance, explores the metamorphoses of the visible. Their work relies on textiles and painting as much as film photography.
For the reopening of the Hôtel du Panthéon, and with the support of Hôtels Paris Rive Gauche, Chassary & Belarbi shot five photographs illustrating the relationship between George Sand and Musset. Today they’ve been given the PHPA “carte blanche” with Les évadés.
The artists took for inspiration our inner music. Like a punctuation of everyday life, the exotic sounds bring to life the mechanics of the imagination. The choreography of the gestures glorifies the fabric of rituals. Little by little, time fades away, anonymity disappears and the “escaped” heroes are revealed. On the frontier between fiction and reality, the fantastic elements are released into private space. The escaped, heading towards new territories, unleashes the monotony of the ordinary.
