The Centre for British Photography announces the creation of a programme of grants and mentorship to support photographers and artists working with photography in Britain.
Are you looking for help to complete a project, finish a book dummy, or realise an exhibition?
The Centre’s new Realisation Grants are here to help artists working in photography to help realise a project.
THE OPPORTUNITY
During 2024 the Centre for British Photography will be awarding a total of £10,000 with a maximum award of £2,500 per recipient. These are not support grants but are awards to enable photographers and artists working with photography to bring an ongoing project to completion within a year. They are open to individuals of all ages, irrespective of academic background.
Recipients of the Centre’s Realisation Grants will have a total of four sessions of expert mentorship from the team and trustees of the Centre for British Photography.
Applications are FREE.
HOW TO APPLY
ELIGIBILITY
Submission is not based on nationality; however, the applicant must be based in Britain.
SUBMISSION
Applications may be submitted from 15th December 2023 to 15th January 2024. Application details will be available on the Centre for British Photography’s website and on Picter Contests. Applicants should submit their application via Picter Contests.
EQUALITY, DIVERSITY AND INCLUSIVITY
The mission of the Centre for British Photography is to champion photography made in Britain in all its diversity. Our commitment is to support and platform photographs from all backgrounds and to be as inclusive as possible. We encourage applications from people with backgrounds that are currently under-represented or under-supported within the arts sector.
SELECTION
An internal selection panel will be responsible for shortlisting a maximum of fifteen applications which will then be assessed by the Centre’s trustees.
TIMELINE
The 2024 selected photographers will be announced on 1 March 2024. They will receive their grants in two stages: 50% upon acceptance of the grant, and the balance on 15 September, considered the half-way mark of the grant completion period. It is suggested that works produced with support of the grant should be finished by 1 March 2025.
