Luminaries
Luminaries is a project where I photograph para-athletes and paralympians and hand-embroider their images with metallic thread on photographic paper. Rooted in my personal connection to the disabled community through my son, born with a disability, it emphasizes my belief in the power of representation and the significance of diverse perspectives.
Each embroidered photograph adds a tactile element, showcasing the uniqueness of each athlete and highlighting their dedication.
The metal thread serves as a metaphor for radiance and brilliance.
Through this project, I aspire to challenge ableist attitudes, fostering greater understanding, empathy, and inclusion for all individuals, ultimately celebrating diversity.
