Ghislain Pascal and Tamara Beckwith Veroni of The Little Black Gallery opened their first BOYS! BOYS! BOYS! Gallery Café in Fitzrovia.
The BOYS! BOYS! BOYS! Gallery Café is a new cultural hub to promote queer and gay fine art photography – as part of their wider BOYS! BOYS! BOYS! programme.
It is the first fine art photography gallery dedicated to queer and gay photography.
The launch exhibition includes arworks by AdeY, Yves de Brabander, Mathias Chaillot, Alexander Courtman, Alessandro Pollio, and Michael Søndergaard, and Tyler Udall.
“Galleries have become such boring, alien, elitist, and unfriendly white boxes that nobody wants to visit any more. We’re trying to create a friendly, welcoming environment where people can enjoy visiting, get a cup of coffee or glass of wine, whilst picking up a copy of our latest BOYS! BOYS! BOYS! magazine, book, zine or artwork, whilst chatting to our friendly front of house team”, said Ghislain Pascal.
The BOYS! BOYS! BOYS! Gallery Café is the vision of Ghislain Pascal, implemented and designed by Alison Henry Design.
With walnut panelled walls, pink onyx marble bar and table-tops, Italian marble mosaic floor, and a neon window sign designed by Cig Harvey.
Every Wednesday night a leading member of the queer and gay community will talk as part of the BOYS! BOYS! BOYS! MEETS programme.
BOYS! BOYS! BOYS! is a programme started by The Little Black Gallery in 2018, curated by co-founder Ghislain Pascal, to promote queer and gay fine art photography.
It now represents more than 78 photographers from 33 countries – including China, India, Iran, Kenya, Poland and Russia where gay rights are repressed and queer lives under constant threat.
BOYS! BOYS! BOYS! includes exhibitions, books, the bi-annual magazine, zines, photography courses & portfolio reviews, and the main online art platform.
The BOYS! BOYS! BOYS! Gallery Café will exclusively serve its own BOYS! BOYS! BOYS! Wine – red, white, rosé, and sparkling.
The red (Braucol, Duras, Syrah), white (Mauzac) and sparkling (Mauzac) wines are all organic wines sourced from the Gaillac region in France – where Ghislain Pascal lives. Whilst the rosé (Grenache, Cinsault) is from Provence.
Whilst the BOYS! BOYS! BOYS! Gallery Café will exclusively serve BOYS! BOYS! BOYS! Coffee – an organic Castillo coffee from Finca El Dimante in Huila, Colombia.
