Yorgos Karailias is a Greek photographer who lives in Spain since 2010 where he freelances for various agencies and newspapers as well as a teacher for art schools. Graduate of a Master in History, Yorgos Karailias had not planned to be a photographer but a historian. A journey that is not without impact in his work, his approach and his way of transcribing the real. His series BoaTmen is dedicated to funeral operators, their visual and symbolic strangeness. These offices challenged the photographer to embody the ultimate link between living society and the mortal realm. A link all the more intriguing in Greece where the aesthetics of these pharmacies is particularly lugubrious even gloomy. The photographer also wanted to show the daily life of these funeral workers marked by the social isolation that spend their days in an expectation, waiting for a death.
