In the late afternoon of 12 January 2010, the city of Port-au-Prince and its outskirts were struck by an earthquake that measured 7.3 on the Richter scale. On the heels of this unprecedented catastrophe, Roberto Stephenson roamed the city and its ruins with his camera. During his wanderings he discovered the campsites improvised by the city’s population, coping with the limited means at hand in order to retain some dignity despite an overwhelmingly precarious situation.
