New to this year’s festival is the creation of an “Art Nouveau” section. Twenty-five young galleries were selected by the Witte de With Contemporary Art Center in Rotterdam. Opened in 2013, the Gypsum Gallery (Cairo) is presenting the work of Setareh Shabazi, who fled Iran with her family after the revolution. She created the series Spectral Days by digging through the family archives. The Condrai Galerie (Hamburg) has a series by Philip Gaisser, who combines documentary and sculpture, leaving the audience to interpret the work for themselves. Finally, a series of projections has been organized. Nineteen films and videos will be screened, including HeeWon Lee’s Phone Tapping, filmed in the deserted streets of Seoul. HeeWon Lee is represented by the Galerie Dix9 (Paris).
