The Discovery Award is one of the most prestigious awards given during the world’s first photography festival. The Prize was rebuilt by the Rencontres d’Arles. Partnering with galleries to ‘identify the talents of tomorrow’, galleries will be able to ‘propose an exhibition project of an artist whom they defend and whose work has recently been discovered or deserves to be seen by an international audience.‘
The 2018 edition of the New Version Discovery Award has pre-selected ten artists. All will be exhibited at the next edition. The winner and his gallery will receive a jury prize, equal to an acquisition, worth 15,000 euros. A Public Prize worth 5,000 euros, which is also equal to an acquisition, will also be awarded.
The pre-selected for the 2018 edition are:
Ali Mobasser (Iran, Ag Gallery, Tehran, Iran), Anne Golaz (Switzerland, Gallery C, Neuchâtel, Switzerland), Anton Roland Laub (Romania, Kehrer Galerie, Berlin, Germany), Chandan Gomes (India, Photoink, New Delhi, India), Christto & Andrew (Puerto Rico And South Africa, Metronom, Modena, Italy), Monica Alcazar-Duarte (United Kingdom / Mexico, Derby Quad, Derby, United Kingdom), Paulien Oltheten (Netherlands, Les Calvary Girls, Paris, France), Thomas Hauser (France, Un-Spaced, Paris, France), Wiktoria Wojciechowska (Poland, Confluence Gallery, Nantes, France), Sinzo Aanza (Congo, Imane Farès Gallery, Paris, France).
