Based in Bordeaux, LesAssociés collective has existed since 2013. It now has 7 photographers and 2 directors.
After two collective projects on territorial and social issues, he is working on the consequences and questions of the giant fires of La Teste and Landiras in Gironde.
The fires made headlines in the summer of 2022. On an unprecedented scale, they marked the spirits by their violence, their size and their duration. At the crossroads of economic and climate issues, the Girondin fires raise many questions. Spatial planning, urbanization of so-called “natural” spaces, mode of exploitation, the list is long of the subjects which are debated.
LesAssociés collective sees the vast territory devastated by these fires as a complex ecosystem where new relationships between environment and society can grow. Both a field of experimentation and fertile ground, scorched earth is considered here in its capacity to receive, like young plants, the human, economic and ecological questions, which will give tomorrow the world in which we wish to live. In the same way, the collective proposal of the Associates comes as so many photographic experiences, transplants and cuttings between documentary photography, experimental approach and plastic research.
