Arles 2020 from day to day by Thierry Maindrault
On the higher floors of its beautiful building at 18 rue de la Calade, the Foundation Manuel Rivera Ortiz offers, under the title “ACT”, to a few contemporary regional creators the space of their workshop for the summer period. Naturally in the middle of the many creative forms, photography finds all its place.
Arles photographer Jonathan Pierredon is rather known for his portrait treatments through the photographic technique known as the ferrotype. Only, like each of us, he found himself confronted with the confinement and its aftermaths.
While he has done the choice to volunteer as caregivers in Arles and its precincts, he took the opportunity to shoot a number of portraits of different caregivers involved in the fight against this Covid. He also became interested in all the various objects of our daily life which found themselves involved, in various improbable forms, in the fight against the virus and especially those that compensate for the lack of suitable materials.
A nice inventory Jacques Prevert’style with the obvious underlying note of humor.
