Contrasto has just launched the second and essential chapter of the international Great Photographers app series, available soon on I-tunes store. It will be dedicated to William Klein. Just a year ago Contrasto realized the first app dedicated to Mario Giacomelli.
The App series aims to be much more than an electronic version of a printed book as Roberto Koch told in a interview to The British Journal of Photography. “I think tablet computers and iPads specifically are one of the best tools to appreciate photography. Images look good on the back-lit screen but you also have the opportunity to include video and multimedia, and to select and create your own private album of images.” he said.
The apps of the series, available for iPad and iPhone, take the viewer through an unprecedented experience with the work of the world’s most important photographers. The William Klein one will be available in three languages (English, Italian and French). With this new product (each App is individually designed) Contrasto offers an important and new editorial challenge, finding a new and different way to live photography. Thanks to the richness and variety of the content presented, its interactivity and its great visual quality, the apps attract a wider international audience.
William Klein new App brings to the public a total immersion in the complex artistic universe of one of the greatest international photographers. It allows the reader to surf the photographer’s images, but also to view excerpts of his main feature films and admire a selection of his paintings representing a completely new way of knowing and experiencing William Klein’s work. The App contains 393 images enriched by texts and captions written by Klein. His universe is explored with critical essays by prominent figures of the history of photography as Robert Delpire, Max Kozloff, Alessandra Mauro, Quentin Bajac and David Company.
The first publication devoted to Italian icon Mario Giacomelli, contains almost 300 images, in individually or in slideshow view, seven essays, a virtual exhibition tour, an interactive timeline, a manifesto on photography written by Giacomelli, and an interview with him by Frank Horvat.
