The Antoine de Galbert Foundation acquires the exceptional collection of amateur and anonymous photographs from Marion & Philippe Jacquier, founders of the Lumière des Roses gallery.
This set of nearly 10,000 silver prints of family, scientific, historical, documentary, erotic photos – will soon be donated to a major museum.
Founders of the Lumière des Roses gallery in 2005, Marion & Philippe Jacquier made themselves known by exploring the immense field of anonymous and amateur photography. These pioneers, true “image researchers” gathered photographs for their personal collection, guided by the power of the image, its beauty, its mystery, often its disturbing strangeness.
Since their beginnings, they have chosen to preserve this unique collection: more than a sum of images, the collection acquired by the foundation is the result of unique and coherent work which composes an exceptional panorama of ordinary life in the 20th century. .
