CWC GALLERY presents »Andy Warhol: Fantastic!«. The exhibition, curated by CAMERA WORK, includes works of more than 20 international photographers who have cooperated with Andy Warhol. More than 80 portraits of Andy Warhol provide us a rare perspective on the personality of the co-founder of Pop Art and one of the most eminent artists in history. In honor of Andy Warhol the visual design of the exhibition »Andy Warhol: Fantastic!« is a unique experience for all guests. A special wall design, a fascinating »Silver Clouds« installation and much more brings the artistic life of Andy Warhol into the CWC GALLERY.
The exhibition covers a wide range of photography: from the famous paparazzi photography of Ron Galella over spectacular staged photography of Carl Fisher up to conceptual series of Christopher Makos whose complex project »Altered Image« quotes the Dadaism and at the same time recalls the gender discussion around Andy Warhol. Every single work and every exhibited photographic series represents a microcosm of Andy Warhol’s life. Special emphasis is placed on the synergy which arose from the cooperation between Andy Warhol and well-known photographers. Furthermore, the Factory, founded in the early 1960s by Andy Warhol occupies prominent space in the exhibition. Photographs of Cecil Beaton and Steve Schapiro reveal rare insights to the inner world of this creative center in New York. Through the photographs also the artistic environment of Andy Warhol, his companions and the High Society that surrounded him, is introduced.
