After a highly successful launch in New York City in October 2013, visual artist Alex Koddrip presents in Paris the exhibition “K.Reatures—battle with dichotomy”,  that will then be traveling to LA, Zurich and Tokyo.

“This project represents dichotomy, which means duality within human beings. This set of pictures is divided in two different sets: the burlesque style and a very clean, white Japanese style set. It’s all about the intensity between our dark side and bright side. This internal battle goes on throughout our lifetime for the purpose of knowing ourselves.” Alex Koddrip said in an interview published on Resource Magazine (Interview by Michelle Park, September 2013).

K.REATURES is a series of movie-like still imagery telling a story of artworks about conflicting elements of human nature that coexist in each one of us, and they evolve through emotional life experiences with the ultimate purpose of “knowing thyself.” It’s an investigation to reveal the people’s psychology and identity. His projects convey the complicated nature of the urban lifestyle using intentionally symbolic photographs.

Alex Koddrip explores the dark spots that lie at the edges of bright personalities and Forgiveness is the essential component. It is what enables these characters to see their everlasting duality—respect its presence—and finally to accept the intrinsic asymmetry of human nature. His psychology background and studies extended his interest in human existence, conflicting subconscious human drives. In this project he mixed western and eastern cultures and symbols, some of the elements include a Japanese character with kabuki make-up and the Japanese hieroglyph, which means forgiveness. “Emphasizing the element of forgiveness is critical in accepting both sides of human being, to be free of one’s complexes”.
