This is a really a nice piece of work. 534 photographs in this Breton “bible” of heritage photography. I picked 34 of them for you, somewhat at random from the different parts of the book. You have 500 left to discover, relive, challenge. The text supports this very rich iconography to allow those who can neither know nor imagine that: “…in those days…”.
How many heritage funds have been destroyed accidentally or by the stupidity of generational changes? How many funds are still buried in attics, in trunks or in those photographic studios that have disappeared inexorably in the last twenty years?
With such a book, the authors and all their supporters have the immense merit of opening a path and laying a stone there. Let’s hope that many regions of Europe, even of the planet, will have the good idea to make a follow-up to this achievement, each for its own territorial responsibility.
At a time when the number of cameras is in the billions. In this era where the smallest button pusher spends fortunes to self-publish his own bookish aura. It is time to save and make available to the public the testimonies, very often of excellent quality, of the experience and environment of our photographer ancestors.
