The publishing house Le Bec en l’air has just released Srebrenica by Night by photographer Adrien Selbert, a series that has won many awards on Srebrenica after the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina. On July 9th 1995, the Serb army attacked the Muslim enclave of Srebrenica. Nearly 8,000 men were massacred in three days. In Bosnia, the ancient spa town became a symbol of the barbarity in the former Yugoslavia. Twenty years after what remains the largest massacre in Europe since the Second World War, the city seems frozen in the obscurity of its history. A new generation roams through the ruins. they are as old as the genocide and experienced this indefinable post-war period trying to extract themselves from this night without end.
It is this reality that is shown by Adrien Selbert who, to accentuate the symbolic dimension, photographed Srebrenica at night.
