Notice to photographers: ADAGP and SGDL are joining forces and offering a questionnaire to measure the impact of artificial intelligence on the activity and income of image and written artists-authors.
“If there is no reason to oppose in principle AI, which can also constitute tools at the service of artists, it is imperative that their development takes place while respecting the rights of the authors of the works from which they are based. nourish”. With this declaration, the ADAGP, society of authors in the visual arts, reaffirmed last February its desire to defend the creators of works in the face of recent technology which is still struggling to be regulated.
Threat or opportunity?
Open until June 24, 2024 and entirely anonymous, this questionnaire dedicated to artist-authors can be completed in around ten minutes.
He is initially interested in the feelings of artist-authors regarding AI: opportunity? Threat ? Complete and precise, it then invites you to answer questions about their use in a professional setting. The various issues are addressed, and in particular that of consent to the exploitation of works by AI systems.
The results of this survey will be published by the ADAGP and the SGDL next September.

Faced with AI, the need for a transparent and protective framework
Questions of transparency and protection are questions already raised by the ADAGP which, since the rise of these technologies, publishes studies and news, organizes workshops to train artists on this theme and supports public authorities through working groups on copyright issues.
Last February, the ADAGP notably put online the guide “How to opt-out for your works” which details the technical possibilities available to artists in order to best protect their creations by opposing the search of AI data on the internet.
Initiatives which must, according to the ADAGP, be accompanied by transparency and clear supervision of AI, thanks to an adaptation of the legislative framework by the public authorities, in France and at the European level.
