This exhibition aims to salute the courage and determination of entrepreneurs who have no access to bank credit , and who instead bring their business plans to fruition using microcredit. It carries with it a social hope, one that we need more than ever in these uncertain economic times.
Thirty-six men and women supported by Adie, a pioneer microcredit association in France, were photographed by two photographers of the Magnum agency. A bicycle repairman, a snail breeder, a game designer, a delicatessen owner: each are involved in our changing society.
Produced by Alex Majoli, their full-length portraits will be visible day and night in a public space, outside of a gallery containing Jonas Bendiksen’s multimedia work featuring photographs, screening and sound recordings in which the micro-entrepreneurs discuss their experiences, failures, successes, and their newfound confidence.
The exhibition will be held across France in cities like Lille, Lyon, Bordeaux, Marseille and Metz. Its first stop is in Paris, Place Stalingrad in the 19th arrondissement.
