For the third consecutive year, fine art photography will be a protagonist at Arte Fiera with a special section presenting galleries and well-known and promising artists who dedicate themselves to art of photography.
Photography proves itself as being an essential unit in the field of contemporary visual arts, showing strong liveliness in the trade market thanks to its accessibility compared to the other languages of expression of contemporary art.
Since 2014 the photography section is the result of a successful partnership between BolognaFiere and MIA Photo Fair, the international photography and moving image art fair in Milan, conceived and directed by Fabio Castelli.
The selected galleries will bring to the fair both italian and international, both celebrated and emerging, both traditional and experimental, both classic and avant-garde photographers. The aim is to offer a path going from historic to contemporary photography, exhibiting booths which examinate subjects as travel and immigration, the investigation around body, natural environments, architecture, industry and fashion.
Visitors will have the opportunity of admiring on one hand group shows addressing the subjects in a transverse ways, with artworks by several authors; on the other hand through solo shows, exhibiting a single artist’s works in order to make the audience understand his/her creative process in an exhaustive and captivating way.
Conceived in 2011 from an idea of Fabio Castelli, MIA Photo Fair was created with the aim of highlighting the transverse role that photography has come to play between the languages of expression of the contemporary art system. During the last edition, held on April 2015, the fair has confirmed an important audience acceptance: 22.000 visitors (+10% compared to 2014) including collectors, journalists, curators and art enthusiasts who have visited the booths enjoying the displayed artworks and participated in the lectures, editorial launches and book signings with international guests.
In 2016 MIA Photo Fair will be on stage for its 6th edition from April 29 to May 2 at The Mall, in the renovated neighborhood of Porta Nuova, Milan.
