New York hosted the 16th Annual Lucie Awards in a gala black-tie ceremony and awards program, at Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall. The Lucie, honoring the greatest achievements in the field , presented awards ranging from Achievement in Fine Art and Documentary, to Achievements in industry support categories, including Photojournalism and Advertising.“I am so proud to be celebrating the 16th year of The Lucie Awards. Tonight we pay tribute to the achievements of the winners and honorees that bring so much joy and meaning to our community. We are pleased to be at Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York once again for this occasion, and to see our friends and colleagues while we shine a spotlight on these achievements,” stated Hossein Farmani, The Lucie Awards founder. Shahidul Alam as the recipient of the Humanitarian Award presented accepted by professor and scholar, Gayatri Spivak, as Shahidul was again denied a bail hearing and remains in jail in Bangladesh
Jane Evelyn Atwood for Achievement in Documentary, presented by journalist Adrian LeBlanc
Gian Paolo Barbieri for Achievement in Fashion, presented by Goran Macura, V Magazine
Co Rentmeester for Achievement in Sports, presented by sports writer, Kostya Kennedy
Joyce Tenneson for Achievement in Portraiture, presented by photography writer, critic, historian Vicki Goldberg
Raghu Rai for Achievement in Photojournalism, presented by historian, author, film writer Geoffrey Ward
Lee Friedlander for Lifetime Achievement, presented by Jeffrey Hirsch of Foto Care
John Moore received the Inaugural Impact Award, presented by Mark Getty, co-founder, CEO, Getty Images
and the Camera Club of the Philippines received the Spotlight Award, presented by New York-based photographer, Carlos Esguerra.
INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR was announced by Susan Baraz of AtEdge and presented to Tawny Chatmon
Susan Baraz from AtEdge presented the DISCOVERY OF THE YEAR to photographer Mohammad Rakibul Hasan
