The nonprofit organization #Dysturb, which has come into the public eye over the recent years with their collages of documentary reportages pasted in the streets around the world, has just launched a print publication on the occasion of the Visa pour l’Image Festival in Perpignan. The theme tackled in this first issue is climate, along with such topics and points of concern as the refugee crisis, melting glaciers, rising sea levels, exploitation of natural resources, and the future face of cities.
Readers will discover images by famous photojournalists, such as Paolo Pellegrin, David Guttenfelder, Ed Kashi, and Matt Black, complemented by texts written by Agence France Presse journalists, senior reporters, researchers, as well as some surprising wordsmiths, like the American musician Bernie Krause and DJ Moby, the author of the opening poem.
With its refined modern design and its light, newsprint paper, the journal, edited by the photographers Pierre Terdjman, Benjamin Girette, Benjamin Petit, and the journalist Laurence Cornet, also banks on offbeat columns. The headings read: “Faits Divers” offering some hard numbers on climate change; and “T’as vu?,” with a list of “solutions” and initiatives by individuals and organizations.
Published in two languages, in French and in English, in 5,000 and 8,000 copies, respectively; distributed for free in Perpignan; and soon available in #Dysturb’s partner schools, universities, art centers, and museums, this publication looks very promising!
