My name is Zeren Badar.I’m a NYC based photographer. Originally I’m from Turkey.
I bought my first DSLR camera in January 2010.I thought photography would be an outlet for my creativity. I was so excited. All those years I went to museums and art galleries. It seemed so easy to take photographs. The beginning was frustrating.
Immediately I signed up for a nine weeks photography course at the least expensive place I could find. I also started reading photography books religiously.
Photography is my passion. My photographs have been featured on a Curator, Lenscratch
Expressions
My project’s name is Expressions. I hunt on the streets facial expressions. I try to find extreme shadows as chiaroscuro like old masters paintings. I use Sony NEX3 with 18mm-80mm lens for this project. Mostly photographs have been taken 18mm lens. I get so close the subject to create distortions. My inspiration is German Expressionism. You can say street photography meets Expressionism. I want my images to be very expressive and strong.
My photographs are for conversations. Viewers will ask themselves “Who is that old lady? Why is she frowning? What is she thinking?”. Viewers will create their own stories for each photograph. I believe extensive use of rich colors intensifies viewers emotions.
