Vincent Fillon was commissioned to shoot this photograph for PHPA at the Hôtel du Panthéon in March 2013. More of his personal work can be viewed in the portfolio.
“It was thanks to the series Entre-deux that I was selected to compete for the Prix PHPA. The series, shot in a place undergoing change, evokes a suspension of time, a moment where a place has lost all function. It is no longer and is not yet. The Hôtel du Panthéon was being renovated so it was easy to continue with the series in a new place. At the same time, I wanted to take a different route. I wanted to explore the notion of a hotel room, a place that belongs to no one but which houses a succession of intimacies. I see now that the series and this photograph are talking about the same thing: a place and its ghosts.”
