View on the Sea 1930-1970
As early as the 1930’s, Pierre Jamet fixed his humanistic and curious eye on the numerous times that he spent at the seaside. It may be in Belle-Ile-en-Mer, where he directed a summer camp during the Popular Front and afterwards became his homeport, or somewhere else in France and abroad – wherever his singing career led him. With a scent of another time, his photos show the happiness of swimming, the softness of the sun on the sand, the beach games, the life of sailors and of the port. They spread the undisputable joy of life, sometimes tinted with poetic nostalgia.
