In part of Triennale di Milano the american photographer Howard Schatz presents Body Power, the first Italian exhibition entirely dedicated to the human body. The exhibition curated by Biba Giachetti, founder of the Agency Sudest57, displays pictures which celebrate the body power, taken from 25 years of Schatz’s activity. A selection of about 40 photos whose set-up has been created by Peter Bottazzi.
The pictures come from the most famous projects by Howard Schatz: “Dance”, “At the fight”, “Boxing” and “Athlete”. The bodies of the exhibition gathered in a surreal and dreamy dimension created by lightboxes which form the site specific installation. His first Italian exhibition dedicated to the body has been conceived according to two different set-up approaches: one metaphoric and one more traditional and poetic. Human body is the center, even if not the only one, of Schatz’s work. His research is driven by the concept of movement, by light studies and the kinetic power that the trained human body is capable to reach.
This exhibition is one of a series of exhibition celebrating the publication of Schatz Images : 25 Years, a 25 year retrospective of Schatz’s work. The limited edition, luxurious two-book boxed set is available from the publisher, Glitterati, Inc. on their site.
