Preview

Floriane de Lassée is unveiling new photographs from her series Half the Sky, a long-term project on women in the world.

From 2004 to 2011, Floriane shot Inside Views, a series about privacy in large cities. In 2009, the photographer was selected as a “Rising Talent” by the Women’s Forum and met the L’Oréal group, who offered to finance a world tour  to enable her to continue her work on women. From India , Namibia, to Turkey and Korea, Half the Sky focuses on women across the world and look at their private lives and personal stories through photographs of each woman in her environment.

“Between tradition and modernity, in large cities and more remote areas  the photographer travelled between 2004 and 2013 to photograph each of these women triying to break free of themseves,  a profound loneliness is visible in certain photographs. Each one tries in her own way to assert her identity, to join her natural social environment, to exist for herself and in the eyes of others.”

Born in 1976, Floriane de Lassée is based in Paris. She is a graduate of the International Center of Photography in New York.
