America fascinates. The United States has power over us, poor Europeans. The extensive media coverage of its election campaign is a proof. Despite two candidates of poor quality, the press and dinner parties speak only of two people: Donald & Hillary.
This presidential campaign, which ends in November, gave me the idea of mounting a photographic exhibition on American culture. But it is also the great fascination that I myself have for this country that led me to mount this “American show”. I have a history of passion for the USA.
American culture, you will say, is pretty vague … Here major photographers are exhibited, such as Elliott Erwitt, Steve Schapiro, Mark Seliger, Albert Watson, Steven Klein, Martin Schoeller, Greg Gorman, Ron Galella, Terry O ‘ Neill, Nadav Kander. Then two prides: the most famous photo of 9/11, the work of Lyle Owerko for a Time Magazine cover , and the new series “American Dreams”, by François Fontaine. Do not forget some unpublished photos by Claude Gassian.
