The sixth photographic season of the Royal Abbey of Epau opens tomorrow. Photographers were invited to think about the notions of “environment, the collective memory and the evolutions of society”. The structuring theme of this work is entitled Citizenship and Living Together.
The season brings together Leila Alaoui, Corentin Folhen, Tim Franco, Guy Le Querrec, Thomas Pesquet, Lee Daesung, Frederick Lermeryd and Gerard Uferas. Among the exhibitions to be seen, No Pasara by Leila Alaoui. The photographer documented the exodus of young Moroccanlooking for a promising future in Europe. The French astronaut Thomas Pesquet presents his spatial works that have earned him some success on social networks. Daesung Lee shows an edifying work on the progress of desertification in Mongolia. In a striking contrast, Tim Franco worked on the Chinese megalopolis of Chongqing, his contemporary transformations and a certain denial of traditions. His photographs showing derisory plots of land, dominated by large concrete towers strike.
In addition, the festival also offers programming outside the walls. This comes in an exhibition on the grids of the Hôtel du Département in the heart of the city Le Mans. Nikolas Lund presents his Everybody loves classical music III series, Philippe Chérel his series Sarthe vue du Ciel and Dominique Breugnot, Denis Lambert, Hervé Petitbon a collective work on the 24 hours of Le Mans.
The festival opens tomorrow, May 19th, and will end on November 4th, 2018.
