Since Paris Photo moved to the Grand Palais, it was my dream to open a photo studio during the fair and to have all the people we love being photographed. This year we succeeded.
The place is beautiful, the atmosphere warm, the food excellent, prices reasonable: it is the Minipalais, the bar and restaurant of the Grand Palais. An old, longtime accomplice, Yan Morvan, shot these portraits for four days. From time to time, star himself, he went to a signing session of his own books.
It was a beautiful moment, in the image of this fair, that was this year, after the horror of last year, a real success. The opening, on Wednesday morning, was however difficult with the astounding announcement of the election of Donald Trump. The fair was tetanized, stunned, and everybody spoke only of that! And then image took over. This year, there were a great variety of approaches, a beautiful sophistication of presentation, new galleries: in short it was a success, including on the financial side.
Thank you to René Carbonnière, the director of the Minipalais and his team, thanks to Yan and his son François, thanks finally to Leica who lent its most sophisticated equipment, the S007 camera.
