The Landskrona Foto Festival 2016, August 19th through the 28th, will be 10 days of photography exhibitions, photo book displays, seminars, portfolio reviews, artist talks and more. The city of Landskrona, Sweden, founded in 1413, is on the coast of Skåne, between Malmö and Helsingborg, diagonally across the Sound from Copenhagen. The Festival will take place for the fourth time under the new artistic direction of Christian Caujolle and Jenny Nordquist.
In the last decade, photography as an art form has attained a position never before seen in Sweden. The number of galleries, institutions and museums exhibiting contemporary Swedish and foreign photographs has never been greater. Nor have so many photo books been published before. And prices paid for photographs at auctions have never been higher.
New in 2016, the focus on outdoor exhibitions. The white walls of the gallery will move outside in exhibitions located throughout the city. The aim is to present photographers that are new to the Swedish audiences, and to explore new points of views from around the world. In the exhibitions the photographers reflect over the local culture, environment and history in countries such as Senegal, China, Cambodia and Korea.
Landskrona Foto Festival invites international photographers to enter their Portfolio Review, Saturday, August 20th. The primary purpose is to lead to possible offers for the participating photographers to exhibit their photographs at festivals and events around the world. Previous years have seen good results, with participants having been invited to festivals in Derby, Leipzig, Dublin and Athens as a direct result of taking part in the Review. Several photo books have also been published.
This year’s reviewers together will select the “Best Portfolio” allowing the winner to take part in the official exhibition program during Landskrona Foto Festival 2017. Check website for a list of Reviewers and specifications to enter the Review. Applications should be sent to: [email protected]
