This week saw its usual share of horrors. Thousands of Afghans buried in the mud, grim news for the future of Ukraine, Iraq and Syria still blowing up, and the tragic news from Nigeria. The terrorist group Boko Haram, which means in Hausa, the local language, “Western education is a sin,” has proved its inhumanity, barbarism and cruelty by abducting 200 high-school age girls. The one piece of good news this week is from South Sudan, where fighters have laid down their arms… Let’s hope it lasts.
