Italian-born and Swiss citizen, Roberto Greco is a commercial & fine art photographer based in Paris.
He started his career as an ornamental horticulturist before studying Photography, Art and Visual Communication in Lausanne.
Whether he shoots a portrait or a still life, Roberto Greco’s view of the real world is filled with wonder, which translates into metaphors and flamboyant dream-like effects.
His body of work is part professional and part research, and the way he builds his subjects reflect his diligence and meticulousness.
He uses light to paint a particular detail on his subject and stops time at an exact moment to give us something to contemplate.
His images are often much more complex than they appear at first glance and suggest a tremendous iconographic savoir-faire, namely as it relates to painting.
Roberto does not scrimp on humorous or even cynical details that help distance his work from stereotypes and artistic references, and thus creates his own lexicon.
With the “ŒILLÈRES” series, the flowers he shot become an allegory of the human condition. Suspending the moment of decay, wherein that volatile yet neglected moment of decline is magnified.
In the “PORTER SA PEAU” -Wearing one’s skin- series, Roberto has extracted scenes from his memory in which his life is seen through distorting mirrors.
“RAUQUE”, like a somnolent voice… was his last solo show at NeC gallery, Paris in Nov-Dec 2023. “Rauque – L’Objet parfumant”, the olfactive creation, was made in close collaboration with Master perfumer Christopher Sheldrake.
