Sunset Boulevard: angels doing their job just up the road from the Hollywood blockbusters. On the city’s big screen, unknowns strike a pose. Shadows and light frame the scene played out before our eyes. Los Angeles, an immense studio with infinite possibilities, becomes the ideal backdrop for a blend of fiction and reality.
Tapping into the universe of 1950s films noirs and B series kitsch imagery, Denis Bourges deals in the cinematic.
The scenes unfold in the dark room. There are some remarkable images, ones we will remember, ones we will refer to. These visual legends are sequences from an unfinished film. Scoffing at reality, making the everyday magical, capturing the rushes of day-to-day life. The men and women encountered across the city are the heroes of an upcoming photographic thriller.
Denis Bourges
He was born in 1966 in Saint-Brieuc.
Denis Bourges observes communities through the cracks and from behind closed doors, creating a strange effect where they seem to collide with one another.
